New Addition to the Collection – Square Piano by Joseph Kirckman, London 1805

February 2025
Joseph Kirckman was one of the most important piano makers in London at the beginning of the 19th century and came from a family with a long tradition in instrument making. The Kirckman company, originally founded by his grandfather Jacob Kirchmann (1710-1792), was already one of England’s leading instrument manufacturers in the 18th century and was particularly known for its exquisite harpsichords. Another square piano from this historic company, dating from 1805, has been acquired for the collection and is now available online.
