New Museum opening – Museum Kellinghusen „betont – Ton und Tasten Museum“
July 5 – 7 2024
After long preparations, structural renovations and a lot of work, the new museum in the historic town hall in Kellinghusen “ betont – Ton und Tasten Museum ” will be opened with a festival weekend from July 5th to 7th. The restoration work on the historic building began in 2022. Together with the monument protection authorities, the historic town hall, which was built from 1906 to 1908, was restored.
A concept for the new permanent exhibition was developed together with Impuls Design agency from Hamburg. Now part of the Eric Feller Collection will be permanently accessible to the public alongside the important Kellinghusen faience from the 18th and 19th centuries. The total project for the museum amounts to almost 4 million euros.
In a modern staging, the development of keyboard instruments from the early 17th to the 19th century can be seen. In addition to harpsichords, clavichords, square pianos and fortepianos, an early tangent grand piano is also on display. The instruments are accessible to visitors via various audio and video stations. In addition to the permanent exhibition, special exhibitions on various topics are held regularly. In addition, the museum hosts events in which the historical keyboard instruments are used for concerts.
